GENERAL FAQ
1. What are the requirements to enroll?
- Child must live in East Baton Rouge Parish School District*
- Child must have a DSM-V diagnosis of autism from a qualified specialist (Neurologist, Psychologist, Psychiatrist, or Developmental Pediatrician)
- Child must have a current IEP from a parish in Louisiana
2. What do I need to do to apply for my child?
- Applications are currently closed. Please sign up for email updates on our home page to be notified when the application period begins.
- Complete the pre-enrollment form.
- Submit current IEP, DSM-V medical diagnosis of autism and any additional relevant documentation
- Submit Authorization to Release Information between Emerge and
- Parish which current IEP was completed
- Child’s Doctor(s)
3. What ages/grade levels are you enrolling?
- In the fall of 2019 we will enroll Kindergarten and a limited number of first grade spots.
4. Does my child have to have autism to enroll?
- Yes, all students must have a DSM-V diagnosis of autism from a medical professional.
5. What is the enrollment process?
- Applications are currently closed. Please sign up for email updates on our home page to be notified when the application period begins.
- Parents/Guardians complete a pre-enrollment form
- Parents/Guardians submit documents verifying qualification (see #2)
- If there are more applicants than seats, we will hold a lottery
*In regards to homeless applicants, The Emerge School for Autism abides by all regulations in accordance with the federal McKinney-Vento Act.
