General FAQ

1. What are the requirements to enroll?

  • Child must live in East Baton Rouge Parish School District.*

  • Child must be entering Kindergarten, 1st Grade or 2nd Grade (students entering Kindergarten must be five years old by 9/30/2024).

  • Child must require a high level of support from his or her educational setting in the area of communication, self-regulation, and/or interfering behaviors in order to make progress towards individualized educational goals (e.g., Educated in a self-contained Special Education school).

  • Child must currently qualify for Special Education in the state of Louisiana under Bulletin 1508 Autism eligibility or qualify for Special Education in Louisiana under Bulletin 1508 and the student has a medical diagnosis of autism.

     

2. What do I need to do to apply for my child?

  • Complete the online application. (Applications will be opening on January 4, 2024.)

  • Submit documentation of :

    • Residency in East Baton Rouge Parish School District

    • Qualification for Special Education in Louisiana

 

3. What grade levels are you enrolling?  

  • Kindergarten - third grade.

4. What is the enrollment process?

  • Applications open January 3, 2024 for the 2024-2025 school year. The deadline for applications is March 1, 2024.

  • Our lottery will begin one the application process closes and any applicant not chosen will automatically be placed on our waiting list.

  • Parents/Guardians submit documents verifying qualification (see #2).

 

*In regards to homeless applicants, The Emerge School for Autism abides by all regulations in accordance with the federal McKinney-Vento Act.
